Clinical Experience with 0.25% prednicarbate ointment in patients with various types of eczema.

Abstract
There have been many efforts to reduce the side effects of corticosteroid which is one the most common therapeutic agents in dermatologic field. Prednicarbate is a newly developed topical corticosteroid with strong potency but minimum side effects. We have assessed the clinical efficiency and safety of 0.25% prednicarbate ointment and compared with those of 1% hydrocortisone cream in various types of eczema. Clinical improvement was achieved in 80% of the patients treated with prednicarbate ointment, and 65% with prednicarbate ointment, and 65% with hydrocortisone cream. Two patients showed mild side effects such as several acneiform papules, and mild erythema, but those were reversible. Our study also included six patients of young children, and clinical improvement was achieved in all of them without any side effects.
We suggested that 0.25% prednicarbate ointment is a useful agent for different types of eczema, and can also be used in children effectively and safely.
